The intention of the design is one of a multi-use piece of furniture. It functions as a coffee table, a bar stool, and as a lounge seat. The geometry is generated by the conflict of the limits of the different functions: the height of the bar stool creates the limit of the width of the lounge seat, and the height of the coffee table limits the width of the bar stool seat. It is made out of ½†square steel tube stock, and unfilled with 14 Gage sheet steel for the seats and table surfaces. The seats are padded with neoprene and covered with cow-hide, further emphasizing the difference between inside and outside of the overall form of the box.
